The production, the flavour and the hand-picked botanicals of our The Calla 16 Premium Dry Gin have been strongly kept secret. We can only reveal as follows: We know a lot about distillates and how to produce them! That’s why the taste of our The Calla 16 Premium Dry Gin is so multifaceted, spicy as well as citric and fresh. This is the result of our experience and passion about handcrafted products for many decades.
We are always on fire with our body and soul. For us, grain is more than a regional specialty, it is the inspiration and basis for our self-produced neutral alcohol. The single-variety, top-quality grain comes from recognized ecological cultivation. Valuable local water from our own well is added to it and then distilled several times up to our aromatic fine spirit. This laid the special foundation for our Premium Dry Gin.
The 16 botanicals of The Calla 16 Premium Dry Gin are selected with love and care from exclusively recognized ecological cultivation – including lime and orange peel, cardamon, coriander, allspice, lavender and fennel. These botanicals are also distilled several times together with the neutral alocohol in the small batch process. The eponymous calla flower is also used, which is why we are talking about a “Calla infused” gin.

Gin production begins in the head and therefore before the botanicals are selected. For our The Calla 16 Premium Dry Gin, we traveled back to the origins of gin development. To be precise, back to the gin crisis in London in the 18th century and the subsequent rise of gin into the ranks of pure, high-quality multiple distillates.
So it was and is no coincidence that the flower genus “Calla” was first documented in 1753 with the type species “Calla palustris” – and thus almost at the same time as the Gin Act 1751, which drastically increased the production and quality standards of gin and banned distillers from selling their goods to unlicensed dealers. The botanical generic name “Calla” is derived from the Greek word κάλος kalós which means “beautiful”. The elegant, long-stemmed flowers are a real eye-catcher of natural elegance, the appearance of which attracts attention, recognition and passion. If you want to show your admiration to someone, you reach for Callas to say: “You are beautiful!” We also convey this message with our gin – true to the motto: Celebrate beauty! We also pay attention and passion to every single distillation process, every maturation and every flavor-saving bottling, because here too we leave nothing to chance. Character simply needs time, patience and a lot of experience. The maturation process of our The Calla 16 Premium Dry Gin after its multiple distillation takes at least two months. Only in this valuable time the flavor tinctures can develop their full aroma in interaction. The result: an incomparably fresh and spirited, spicy New Western Dry Gin with 44% vol. alc.
